Dateline Saturday August 13th. Only three more weekends until college football is back (I know there is college football the weekend of the 27th but it’s only a few games and Tech isn’t playing so for the purposes of this post be cool and roll with me okay). That Labor Day long weekend is my favorite of all the long weekends (shout out the organized labor movement having a birthday at the beginning of September). Everything just feels fresh and new. People are happier. Cooler weather is within sight. Oh, and So. Much.Football.
I noticed this morning a couple peopled liked my Covers playlist I posted Tuesday, which I think is really cool! There is no actual plan with the blog other than giving me a spot to goof around, entertain myself and my friends, and see if I can have someone from every state find their way to this site (would love to know where you’re from and how you got here if you don’t know me), so seeing something resonated with someone was nice. This is also a good time to bring up a comment I had to moderate because I’m like 95% certain it was spam as the URL came from an Israeli Escort Service, but it was nice, so I’ll include here.
“It is difficult to find well-informed people in this topic, but you seem like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks”. Look, I’ll take compliments in any form or fashion. And if it was real and legitimate and you’re reading this I apologize and if/when I decide to sink money into branded shirts and koozies I will send you a free one.
Sorry, that was quite the digression. Welcome to the “Me” experience. Anyway, here is a Saturday playlist. No real rhyme or reason to the songs other than these are songs I like and wanted to share. If you end up listening and liking it, would love to hear from you. A couple of notes with it:
- As one would expect, the first explicit lyrics song I include in a playlist comes from *checks notes* Lana Del Rey. But it’s a cover I really expected to hate (as a big Sublime fan) when I first listened, but I was proven wrong.
- You can generally expect that with most playlists I will end up posting, there will be an Andre 3000 feature. I don’t make the rules.
- I haven’t seen the Minions movie (this has to be at least the fourth sentence in this post you probably weren’t anticipating reading today you’re welcome) but the soundtrack goes hard. If there is a vinyl, I will buy it and feel no shame.
- The Daniel Johnston song isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I will always talk up the documentary “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” so if this spurs someone to go look up his story or watch the documentary, that’s a win in my book.
That’s all for now, I think. If you’re reading this, hope the cup’s stay full, good times stay had, and the music stays playing.
Be nice
Regards,
Your well-informed friend.
What up. Wreck em
