I’m sure there are others I’m missing, but the biggest lie I ever bought into growing up was that using the balls of one’s feet to go up the stairs would improve one’s vertical. I still can’t jump for sh!t. I’m sure you came here looking for more but that’s it. I’ve been thinking about this a lot the last few days and needed to get it off my chest. 15 year old me had limited athletic skills, but really wanted to dunk a basketball.
