Adventures in…blogging

Now Playing: Mac Miller “Circles”

Now Drinking: Balcones Mirador

Lyric o’ the day: “Check it. Well it’s the M-I-crooked letter, ain’t no one better.  And when I’m on the microphone you best to wear your sweater.  ‘Cause I’m cooler than a polar bear’s toenail…”                   -OutKast “ATLiens”

Hello. I come to you sans any child bike fence accident stories.  So, if you came back for some more of that content, I am sorry I failed you.  I will keep my eyes peeled on my daily walks, but right now it is more trying to frogger around joggers.  I knew playing that game in my youth would pay off in adulthood.  That, and street football before school <reflexively yells CAR at the top of my lungs>.  What I need is a rear-view mirror attachment to my sunglasses, because these joggers running up from behind have adverse feelings about diverting from their path, but I digress…

I was hoping that I would have some well-crafted musical opinion that would knock you the reader’s socks off, but I ended up focused on the 1987 Adventure-Comedy “Adventures in Babysitting” this week.  Specifically, I spent the last couple of nights scouring the internet to see if the movie soundtrack was on vinyl.  I do not regret it, any more than I do every other decision I make in my life (guys I have a lot of free time right now).  The movie has all the things you would want for in a 80’s era adventure comedy: Elizabeth Shue, chase scenes, fights, shenanigans, children staying up past their bedtime, and if those things do not grab you, in my humble opinion a strong to quite strong soundtrack, this scene (tried to embed it but it didn’t work so come back once you listen to the song!)

It’s a great movie prove me wrong. If you have never seen it go watch it, if you have seen it watch it again. And for those of you curious if I found the vinyl I did not ☹.  It is apparently only available on CD for a dollar amount even 1AM drunk me would not want to spend.  So, I will have to enjoy the above song on YouTube the way Al Gore intended.

I appreciate everyone who checked out the blog this week and thought enough of it to come back. It has been fun so far.  I have started to carry a little notebook around with me so when I think of something random, I want to put on here I can write it down.  Tried to do that with the notes app in my phone the other night but in the time it took for me to grab and unlock phone, I completely forgot what it is that I wanted to write.   Which reminds me of the Mitch Hedberg (and get used to me referencing him) joke and is the perfect close for today.

“I write jokes for a living, man. See I sit in my hotel at night, I think of something that’s funny and then I go get a pen and I write it down. Or if the pen’s too far away, I have to convince myself that what I thought of isn’t funny.”

Scroll down if you want to “subscribe” or if not I will let people know on the social media when I’ve posted.  At least for now…I’ll re-evaluate if I start to see I’m getting unfriended.
